United States

  • Food Safety Recall/Outbreak Alert: Agromod Produce, Inc. (McAllen, TX) recalls all Blondi, Yaya, Mañanita and Tastylicious Fresh, Whole Papayas (sold prior to July 23, 2011), that may be linked to an outbreak of 97 reported cases of Salmonella Agona in 23 US states. Ten people have been hospitalized. The recalled Papayas were distributed nationwide.

Canada

Asia, Africa and the Pacific Islands

  • Outbreak Alert (India): Around 100 people in the Kesri Bagh area developed gastroenteritis due to contaminated water in the municipal drinking water system on Saturday. Some residents noticed visible contamination in the water. Three individuals were hospitalized in Jalandhar, and 15 in Kapurthala.
